I need to verify I have received all of the necessary adapters to connect the camera back to the DVR and power. Power connection is the problem. I have a female adapter for one end, but the other end is female and does not have a male adapter. Am i supposed to reverse the cable, cut the other end and use direct termination to the power supply or did I not get all of my adapter cables? This is on a 16CDHR50 system.
Hi Rpalmer,
You should have received the male adapter with the package. If you did not, please give us a call, so that we can locate your account and we will ship them out to you ASAP.
Sorry, I do have the male adapter. So I can use it at the DVR end to connect the power cable to the power box. However at the Camera end of the cable I then have a male plug. Does this need to be cut off to connect the red and black power cables from the camera to the cable? Thanks in advance!
Yes, you will need to remove the male power adapter from the cable on the camera end. Once you have removed it, you will notice a center core cable in its own jacket and the copper shield wrapped around it. Connect the center core to the red camera lead and the copper shield to the black camera lead.
Please make sure that you separate and insulate both cables with electrical tape, so that there is no exposed cable touching the other. At this point, you can plug in the power supply on the other end and check out the picture. I think you will be pretty happy with picture quality of this camera. Please let us know how everything works out.
