I am running the 4CVIR250 system with the 250 GB CP Cam and 4 350 BC cameras. The system is great and I would recommend it to anyone.
My questions:
1. I am trying to fine tune the motion detections settings. Is there a better description of LS, TS, RE, etc thats in the cp cam manual? I have made a few setting changes but not sure if its making that much difference. Around sunrise and sunset I get false recordings from I think light changes. I dont want to lose sensitivity on someone walking by but also dont want to look at recordings every three to four minutes of nothing. I have blocked out all plants that move in the wind which helped a lot.
2. This mornings outside tempuratures got down to to 35 degrees. Two of the 350 BC's on the windy side of the house had a VLOSS around 3-4 am. Is this common if its real cold???
Hi Firepby,
1. I am trying to fine tune the motion detections settings. Is there a better description of LS, TS, RE, etc thats in the cp cam manual? I have made a few setting changes but not sure if its making that much difference. Around sunrise and sunset I get false recordings from I think light changes. The problem that you are having is very common, especially with cameras that switch from color to B/W. During the switch the camera picture will flicker momentarily and a lot of times this causes the DVR motion detection function to trigger.
The DVR included with the 4CVIR250 system has four different levels of motion sensitivity settings. I will explain what each setting does and which ones I think you should be adjusting.
LS: This stands for Level Sensitivity. In this setting two separate frames are compared. If there is a difference between the two frames, than motion recording will be triggered. This setting can be adjust from 00-15. The lower the number the higher the sensitivity.
SS: Special Sensitivity. This is a sensitivity setting based on a moving object size. Each camera screen is broken down into a grid of little squares. For example: If you own a cat, when looking at the screen grid, the cat occupies 5 blocks. You can set this as your object size. This will eliminate any false alarms triggered by a moving object equaling that size.
TS: Time or Speed Sensitivity. This setting is used to avoid false motion triggers by a fast moving object on the screen. Rain, Snow, flies can all trigger motion. This setting would eliminate such false triggers. This setting can be adjust from 00-15. The lower the number the higher the sensitivity.
RE: Reference Sensitivity. This basically compares the last 10 frames based on the sensitivity parameters that you set for the LS,SS and TS simultaneously. This setting can be adjust from 00-61. The higher the number the higher the sensitivity.
In your case, I would suggest that you adjust the LS and the TS settings by making them less sensitive. You will have to play around with this a bit by trying a different setting every time until it no longer triggers the motion during the day/night switch.

The VLOSS should not be due to the drop in temperature. These camers are rated for outdoor. There is thousands of these cameras out there and we have never had any issues with cold temperatures. [/quote]Please check the ouside connection, if its lose and the wind caused it to move that coud have caused the VLOSS. If the problem presists, please give us a call and we'll try to troubleshoot it further.
